Turning Sketches into Bookmarks

19 Apr 2017

I've been working on some new artwork and I was experimenting with some techniques. Using different pens and pencils over watercolour washes. I did these two sketches on long thin pieces of leftover watercolour paper and realised that they looked a little like birds. The actual piece isn't a bird, but I may incorporate that idea in the next project.

The outlines on one are in 6B pencil and the other is a grey Faber Castell pen. For my project I decided to use the pencil. Usually, when I've completed a new piece of work I rush ahead and share it online. I've only posted little sneak peeks at details this time, as I would like to produce a few more pieces in the same style so that I can present a collection. So you'll have to wait a little bit until I reveal the pieces!

In the meantime, here are those sketches that I did. I'm considering selling them as bookmarks once I get them trimmed down a bit more neatly.

Once again, I'd love to hear your comments in the box below!

Gillian, I have a picture I bought when I was 18 that's a combination of watercolour and pen. I love the combination of them together. Your artwork reminds me very much of it especially the image on the right.

Yes, I do love watercolour and pen together :-)
