Art Supplies - Watercolour Paints

5 Mar 2020

Welcome to a new blog series where I'm sharing the art supplies that I use. I have a series on my YouTube channel where I talk about the materials as well, so if you haven't seen that, then be sure to check it out.

In this first post, I'm talking about the watercolour paints which I use.

I have to admit, that most of my paints are about at least 20 years old. A little really does go a long way! I have inherited a couple of sets which also means I have mulitple of some colours.

I use Windsor and Newton Cotman paints. These are the ones which I've had for many many years and they're still great to work with.

My husband then bought me a set from WHSmith which expanded the colour range which I have. I can't say I can really tell the difference between the two different paints, except that I've found that some of the WHSmith lids have broken.

I found it really useful to make a colour chart so I can easily see which shades are which tones when they're on the paper, and what colours look like when they're mixed. For example, I've mixed Cadmium Yellow Hue with all of the blue shades to see the different greens you can make.

Let me know in the comments below what your favourite watercolour paint is to work with.

Please note that these are personal choices of which materials to use and I am not sponsored in any way by any of the companies of the supplies that I use.
